Congress Is Expanding Gun Rights, But NOT For You!

We just got word that Congress is getting ready to pass a MAJOR concealed carry bill. But it's not what you think...

After Rep. Steve Scalise was shot, I was hopeful that Congress would finally take action on a number of pro-gun bills to help keep them, and millions of other Americans, safe. What we've seen is the opposite. Instead of expanding gun rights, they are walking back campaign promises.

They cancelled a hearing to move forward with the Hearing Protection Act. Instead of rolling back an idiotic 83-year-old gun control law, Republicans cowered to the Democrats and pulled it from the calendar.   Now, they are doing the same with concealed carry reciprocity.

Instead of voting on the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (CCRA), a bill which has enough co-sponsors and supporters to pass, Congress is preparing to pass legislation that expands the 2nd Amendment, but only for them.  That's right. The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would give all licensed Americans the right to carry nationwide. But instead, Congress wants to give that right only to themselves.

This is the ultimate betrayal.

Don't let Congress expand their gun rights while leaving you defenseless!

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act now has 200 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives. This legislation would take the millions of licensed gun carriers and allow them to carry nationwide without having to apply for any additional permits. It would treat concealed carry permits like driver's licenses and force every state - even anti-gun states like California and New Jersey - to honor other states' carry permits.

The bill has passed the viability threshold. If it is put to a vote, it will pass.

But that is not what Congress is fast-tracking. Instead, they are only going to expand their right to bear arms. The legislation that was just introduced by Rep. Brian Babin would "allow Members of Congress to carry a concealed handgun anywhere in the United States." Now, Rep. Babin is a co-sponsor for the CCRA. He believes in carry rights for all Americans. But if he thinks he can give Members of Congress additional rights, he is mistaken.

Just to be clear, this is already your right. The 2nd Amendment gives all Americans the right to bear arms. That right doesn't end at the state line or the end of your driveway. Just like you have the right to worship in all 50 states, you have a God-given right to defend yourself nationwide as well.

That right applies to Members of Congress as well, as long as they aren't felons (many should be) or mentally ill (many likely are). The easiest way to let Congressmen and Senators defend themselves nationwide is to let everyone defend themselves nationwide. There is enough support to make that happen. But that is not what the GOP is getting ready to do...

In 2009, a national concealed carry bill got more than 60 Democrats to co-sponsor it. Today, the GOP leadership doesn't even want to put it to a vote...

Do you know who was the 200th Cosponsor to just sign onto the bill? Colorado Representative Mike Coffman. He's one of the most moderate Republicans in the House. The bill now has support from both ends of the Republican ideological spectrum.

The votes are there to pass it and give all Americans the right to carry. Yet, Congress would rather expand their 2nd Amendment rights and leave you to fend for yourself!

Congress wants to give themselves more rights than you!  FORCE Congress to pass the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and give ALL Americans the right to carry!  The new mantra in Congress is "carry rights for me, but not for thee." The fact that this new legislation is even being considered while an all-encompassing reciprocity bill is gathering dust is shameful. The DC swamp truly is in need of draining.

The real question is, what are you going to do about this?

Are you going to sit by and watch while elected Members of Congress vote to give themselves extra rights? Or will you fight and demand that concealed carry reciprocity be given to ALL Americans?

I choose the latter and I hope you will too!
