Elections the Judiciary and Lawlessness

The Federal Judiciary and the Supreme Court have been responsible for the massive shift in American law over the past 54 years.

We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious...for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality...liars and perjurers-and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine...1 Timothy 1:9-11

In 1962-1963 the U.S. Supreme Court removed public school sponsored Bible reading and prayer in all 50 states.

In 1968, it removed the Ten Commandments from the school walls, and has since stripped the Commandments from numerous State Courthouses, Capitols, parks and public places across America.

In 1973 the high court declared abortion to be a woman's unrestricted constitutional right.

In 2003, the court struck down all sodomy laws, then in 2013, it struck down the federal definition of marriage between one man and one woman, and then in 2015, the court redefined marriage, ruling that same-sex couples are entitled to marry despite state laws prohibiting such. Last month the court ruled that the State of Texas cannot require abortion clinics to meet common-sense safety regulations. The point is that the Supreme Court and lower courts are rewriting the law.

  • Founding Father John Jay, first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, famously urged us to select Christians to be our leaders; Exodus 18:21 calls us to select "able men who fear God, love truth and hate covetousness." We must pray that the American people will choose the candidates and party that best meet God's conditions to lead the U.S. into the future ( Ex 18:21 ; Lk 16:2 ; 1 Cor 4:2 ; 9:24 ; Gal 5:7; 1 Tim 3:1-13; 2 Tim 2:15; Heb 12:1 ).

Add to these rulings the disregard for law by the Obama administration and state entities pursuing secular progressive ideals, especially sexual anarchy to the expense of religious liberty, and the result is an ever escalating hostility toward God's moral law and righteous standards as well as the freedom of Christians to profess and live according to those standards. Is the trajectory of court legislative invention and Obama-style lawlessness irreversible?

Issue of lawlessness:

FBI Director James Comey's engthy public statement regarding the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of multiple illegal, unsecured private servers to conduct her official State Department business, including the transfer of documented top secret and other classified documents, clearly demonstrated her malfeasance. Yet after explaining evidence of what was surely an open and shut case against Clinton, Comey concluded by recommending that no criminal charges be filed. His findings sparked outrage, and have already led to Cognressional investigation.

Hillary Clinton placed our national security at risk. Comey said hackers may have had access to 110 emails that were classified at the time Clinton received them but said they could not find evidence that they had been hacked. Complicating Comey's statement was the attempt by FBI operatives to prevent onlookers from taking photographs of Bill Clinton's suspicious 30 minute Phoenix airport tarmac liaison with Obama's Attorney General, Loretta Lynch. Not surprisingly, Lynch said Wednesday that the case is closed, no charges are forthcoming.

The idea that those who are supposed to be public servants, not rulers, can get away with crimes and irregularities for which rank-and-file Americana would be punished. Such lawlessness only promotes more lawlessness. House Speaker Paul Ryan has promised hearings into the FBI investigation and Comey recommendations. Yet Comey's public statement does not portend well for the rule of law in our Republic (see AP Fact Check; Clinton-Lynch Phoenix Meeting ; Lynch says case is closed, no charges ; Ryan: House Hearings ; Hear Janet Medford on Washington Watch talk about this and the Rule of Law.

A federal judge in Mississippi ruled against a new Mississippi religious liberty protection law. Governor Phil Bryant (R) has promised an "aggressive appeal."

Washington State is demanding that Christian pharmacists stock and prescribe abortifacient drugs .  The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear the pharmacist's appeal , enabling the state to begin proceedings against him and others.

The Iowa Civil Rights Commission has declared sermons about homosexuality, same-sex marriage and transgenderism illegal . The Commission insists that churches open their bathrooms to persons of the opposite sex. Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) attorneys have filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of a local church against members of the Iowa Civil Rights Commission.

This is the year that will decide whether lawlessness or religious liberty prevails.
