Freedom of Conscience" Act Held Hostage

Through this morning, our Liberty Counsel Action team has sent over 40,000 faxes to strategically targeted House Members! That’s on top of the 83,052 petitions we hand-delivered to Capitol Hill.
Washington sources now tell us that the House leadership is holding Congressman Jeff Fortenberry’s “Respect for Rights of Conscience Act” in a subcommittee until they know it’s politically safe to advance. The Respect for Rights of Conscience Act is sidetracked in the House Health Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Apparently, this crucially important bill is being held hostage until some poll-taking pundit says the political winds are favorable. Republicans want to be sure that the public will support the bill once it’s passed.
Representative Fortenberry’s Act has 221 co-sponsors. It will pass the House of Representatives if it emerges from the subcommittee! Liberty Counsel Action is supporting Congressman Jeff Fortenberry’s “Respect for Rights of Conscience Act” because we must oppose President Obama’s unconstitutional edicts and restore the rights of ALL citizens to freely exercise their pro-life convictions without government interference.
Our rights as citizens are being systematically dismantled by a power-grabbing administration employing regulations and mandates, all the while methodically sidestepping the Constitution! The Declaration of Independence makes it clear that government power is derived from the consent of the governed.
If the ObamaCare “contraceptive and abortifacient” mandate is allowed to override our religious freedom and right of conscience, there will be no boundaries to the subsequent directives that are sure to follow. The worst thing about ObamaCare is that it authorizes unrestricted power in its implementation to a group of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats!
The early “HHS Rules” of implementation are just the beginning of what is certain to be a tidal wave of government power grabs. This is not just our opinion—the handwriting is on the wall!
Americans simply cannot afford to lose this battle, especially when this bill will derail the HHS ObamaCare abortifacient “mandate” that forces people of faith to violate their consciences or face severe penalties. Through the morning of April 5th, our Liberty Counsel Action team has sent over 40,000 faxes to strategically targeted Members!
